The Westin’s Brunch Beats: The funkiest freeflow brunch in town

The title of best brunch in Singapore is already hotly contested but there is a new kid in town – The Westin Hotel in the heart of the CBD and she is the club-hopping hipster to the Ritz Carlton’s grande dame. Young, urban and very cool, this brunch ticks all the key boxes when it comes to brunch: great food, great view, great booze!
Start by tackling their extravagant seafood selection (lobster, 3 types of oysters, tiger prawns, 3 types of crab, mussels, scallops, sushi), maybe sneak in a refreshing salad course, then move on to the impressive range of roast meats: leg of lamb, BBQ ribs, whole guinea hen and a baby suckling pig, accompanied by butter-drenched asparagus and garlicky mash or roast potatoes plus Asian dishes including lobster Mee Goreng and a delicious Tom Yum.
For the true carnivores though there is one option which stands out, and which I have yet to see anywhere else: slabs of raw beef (sirloin, rib-eye, tenderloin, wagyu and T-bone) sitting on piles of ice, for your own totally customised steak. Pick your cut, size and rareness and then watch your personal timer tick down to let you know when it will be ready. The beef is excellent quality, and cooked to perfection by the expert chefs in front of you.
Finish off your feasting with a good range of cheeses and delicious dessert station, including cakes, ice creams, Kueh Lapis and a sub-zero granite stone on which frozen yogurts are blended to order with your choice of fruits, cookies, or sweets!
The service is excellent, with the charming restaurant manager regularly strolling the floors to check that everything is running smoothly, and well trained staff who understand and appreciate the food they are serving and are happy to discuss it with you as well as offering off-menu choices for those with sudden cravings. Your glass of Veuve Cliquot is never empty, and for those of you with interests beyond bubbly there is also a range of craft beers, wines, cocktails and the dreaded Jaegermeister at your disposal… just don’t blame us when you crawl out of bed on Monday morning!
I have saved the best for last though – Lindo Martinez, the Spanish-named Dutch DJ who rules the floor during this blissed out Ibiza-influenced Sunday chill-out session. Playing a selection of remixes of classic ballads and old school favourites remixed with mellow dance tracks Brunch Beats really is the coolest ticket in town!
The Westin’s Brunch Beats takes place every Sunday at Seasonal Tastes from 12pm to 3pm at $158++ (inclusive of free-flow Veuve Clicquot champagne, red and white wines, cocktails, beers and soft drinks).
