Concert Details

The show will feature funky, swinging, bluesy tunes from their upcoming album “Jeremy Monteiro & Alberto Marsico – The Jazz Blues Brothers”.

Jeremy Monteiro (Pianist, Co-Leader) from Singapore, is one of the best-known jazz pianists in South-East Asia who has played with many jazz greats like James Moody and Toots Thielemans and continues to perform regularly with two-time Grammy Award winning saxophonist Ernie Watts whom he has collaborated with since 1987.

A highlight of his career was when he was asked to play keyboards for Simon & Garfunkel for their concert in Singapore in 1992 in front of an audience of 7,000 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
In 1988, he performed a landmark concert with his band Monteiro, Young & Holt on the main stage of the Montreux Jazz Festival at a show that included Chick Corea, The Yellow Jackets, Crowded House and Mongo Santa Maria. Montreux Jazz Founder Claude Nobs hailed the concert as ‘one of the best shows of the first 22 years of Montreux’.

Alberto Marsico (Organist, Co-Leader) from Turin, Italy, is one of the most sought-after jazz and blues organists in Europe. Legendary Hammond organists Jack McDuff, once told Alberto after recording his composition Jack-Pot, ‘Alberto, you’ve got Hammond blood!’

Joey DeFrancesco, recognized as the most well-known jazz organists today, has this to say about Alberto, ‘The gentleman that you are listening to here on this particular recording is one of my very favorite organists.
Alberto Marsico is a fantastic jazz organist, but here (on the album Soundsville – Blues For Alice In Wonderland) you hear him in another element, a rockish, bluesy kind of stuff, which I love a lot, and I’ve never heard anybody do it better than Alberto.’

‘As if he invented the genre, Alberto Marsico, with Jack Mc Duff’s and Jimmy Smith’s intimations, reminds us how the blues should be played and digested…’ remarked legendary American bassist Jimmy Woody on Alberto.
Most recently, Alberto performed and co-produced the Verve-label album ‘Purple’ by famed Italian trumpeter Fabrizio Bosso.

Also in the band are, Eugene Pao, arguably Asia’s top, jazz, blues & rock guitarist, who has performed with everyone from Jimmy Witherspoon to Michael Brecker; Shawn Letts on Saxophone, a prolific composer himself and elder brother of Pulitzer Prize for Drama (2008) and Tony-Award winning actor/writer Tracy Letts; and Bangkok-based American drummer Shawn Kelley who has performed with the likes of Ernie Watts, James Moody and Toots Thielemans.
The show will also feature guest vocalist Rani Singam, one of Singapore’s most prominent and soulful jazz singers.
The repertoire will be from their upcoming new CD, “The Jazz-Blues Brothers” which is a funky, soulful, bluesy Jazz album.
