Mosaic Music Series: Rodrigo y Gabriela

“Twenty fingers, 12 strings, two players, one ton of fun” – Q magazine

Their appeal is boundless, their scope limitless, and the music timeless. Internationally acclaimed Mexican acoustic rock guitar duo Rodrigo y Gabriela has won the hearts of audiences worldwide with their unique instrumental blend of rumba flamenca, rock, metal, jazz and world music.

Rodrigo Sanchez and Gabriela Quintero have been playing together for more than 15 years. The pair started out as young thrash metal fans in their native Mexico City, then as innocents abroad busking on the streets in Dublin, Ireland, before finally becoming the globe-straddling, film-scoring, record-breaking musicians that they are today. With over 1.5 million albums sold, an extensive repertoire of music scored for blockbuster films, and sold-out tours worldwide, Rodrigo y Gabriela is a musical phenomenon not to be missed.

This April, get ready for a sizzling night out as the couple rips through the Esplanade Concert Hall with frenetic energy and rhythmic intensity. Expect an evening of exhilarating interplays between Sanchez’s fiery lead lines and Quintero’s phenomenal rhythmic battery, as they weave their unique six-string magic in their one-night only concert.

Rodrigo y Gabriela are performing live on Saturday, 11 April at 7.30pm at the Esplanade Concert Hall.
