Singapore Art Museum (SAM)

Home to some of the region’s most distinctive pieces of contemporary art, the Singapore Art Museum (also known as the SAM) aims to foster a deeper appreciation and understanding of art through thematic exhibitions that always remain accessible to the public. The Singapore Art Museum frequently hosts meet-and-greet sessions with leading contemporary artists to allow the public to gain further insight on these artists’s perspectives, and also proves to be the perfect venue to showcase the works of the local film and music scene.

With always a wide variety of artwork on display, ranging from traditional paintings to eye-catching installation work, the Singapore Art Museum is definitely a great place to experience the local art scene and beyond. We have to admit some of the exhibitions helped us see Singapore in a different light too; with our personal favourite from recent years being the installation of Walter, a 6m x 10m inflatable bunny by the Museum’s frontage!

The Singapore Art Museum is open from Monday – Sunday: 10am – 7pm  (Last admission is 6:15pm), Friday: 10am – 9pm, with complimentary entry on Friday evenings from 6pm – 9pm.

Admission is free for Singapore citizens and permanent residents, with admission fees of $5++ for Foreign Visitors.

When Joel’s not partaking in one of his shameless eating sessions, he likes to think of himself as a sponge – absorbing the mysteries and beauty of our world – be it through a good book or a wacky jaunt in a foreign country.
