The Weekly Grub: 5 Things to Eat and Drink in Singapore this Week

For this week’s edition of Weekly Grub, we’ve curated a list of guilt-free delicious eats that’ll help keep your 2019 resolutions in check. From vegan burgers at HRVST to carb-free burgers at Wolfgang’s Steakhouse, and clean but delicious Japanese fare, eating healthy is made much simpler.

HRVST Unveils New Vegan Menu

HRVST has once again innovated fresh and exciting ways to eat your greens. Not only do they present vegetables in creatively delicious ways, diners can also expect quick lunch plates for the busy bees such the Local Soba ($12) with tempura, and thoughtful dinner plates for quiet evenings. There’s also creamy Carbonara ($18) made with cashew cream and bacon chips from mushrooms and the Classic Cheeseburger ($22) using Beyond Meat patties, served with gherkins and curly fries. Get your hands on their creative desserts as well, such as their Coconut Curry Ice Cream ($12) using homegrown curry leaves with pickled Thai mango.

Wolfgang’s Steakhouse Naked Burger

The international Wolfgang’s Steakhouse has launched a new item on their menu – the Naked Burger ($22), a twist on the Classic Wolfgang Burger comprising of a USDA Prime Chuck Patty on lettuce with tomato, onion, avocado, gherkin, and good ol’ American sliced cheese. Served with a side of healthy Beverly Hills chopped salad, the carb-free burger contains less than  300 calories, making a light yet filling meal that’s perfect for the health-conscious. Available 11.30am t0 5.30pm daily.

Taste of Kyoto at Capella

Part of Capella Singapore‘s inaugural gourmet festival, A Taste of Kyoto, Chef’s Table, has invited Kyoto Chef Yozo Ueda, owner and chef of two Michelin star restaurant, Ankyu, to showcase The Beauty of Kaiseki ($250++ per person) from 9 to 13 January 2019. Enjoy his signature dishes such as Persimmon with Sesame Paste, Matsuba Crab, Ebi-Imo Spring Roll, and finish on a sweet note of Roasted Chestnuts Monaka Ice Cream Sandwich, a unique rendition of Japan’s traditional wafer cookie dessert. Looking forward, diners can also savour some of Kyoto’s finest sushi by Chef Akira Umehara from 16 to 20 January 2019.

New Lunch and À la carte Menu at Table by Rang Mahal

Experience the streets of India at Table by Rang Mahal, with the launch of their new menu featuring vegetarian options like Pao Bhajee ($16), a mash of potato, tomato, and other vegetables served in a martini glass with a side of garlic bread, and their iconic Chilli Cheese Kulzza ($14) – Tandoor-grilled fresh fluffy naan bread topped with green chilli, bell pepper, and mild cheddar. Not to miss is Table’s new Executive Lunch set menu, available from 12pm to 2.30pm daily at just $20++. Their lunch set includes a choice of main – like Murg Paprika Tikka and Paneer Makhanwala amongst others – along with their dal and vegetable of the day, naan, and fragrant basmati rice.

SPRUCE@Katong Opens At Times Square

Homegrown brand SPRUCE has landed lands in the heart of Katong at Times Square, offering crowd favorites such as Devil’s Wings ($18) – a level of spice that only hell can offer, order at your own risk – their Chimichurri Lamb Chops ($24), and The SPRUCE Burger ($20). On top of these classics, SPRUCE@Katong introduces dishes exclusive to their outlet like the rich and creamy Katong Chicken Laksa Spaghetti ($22), the Chilli Beef Rib ($26), and Katong St Chicks Burger ($22) – a char-grilled boneless chicken leg served with cheddar cheese, sriracha mayo, and herbed fries.
