This week, Singapore sees Italian craft beer and cheap (but quality) weekday dim sum. There’s good news for the happy hour punters and those guilty of ordering take out frequently too!

New Menu in Place at Pete’s Place

Featuring a mix of classic favourites throughout the resturant’s history and 25 new dishes, Pete’s Place’s latest menu change is courtesy of Chef de Cuisine Aldo and new pizza Chef Daniele. New dishes to look forward to include the crispy Arrancini alla Bolognese rice balls oozing black angus beef Bolognese, the Truffle Pizza handcrafted with their special 48-hour pizza dough, and the Brasato al Barolo short ribs served with polenta and horseradish. For classic Italian flavours, you can’t go wrong with the Lasagne Tradizionale or the heartwarming Gnocchi alla Sorrentina (potato dumplings with tomato sauce and mozzarella).

Italian Craft Beer Pairing Dinner at Gattopardo

Sicilian restaurant Gattopardo is teaming up with Collesi, an Italian award-winning craft brewery located in the Le Marche region, to present a six-course beer pairing dinner. Made with homegrown barley in the Collesi family’s fields and brewed according to the Belgian Trappist traditions, Birra Collesi has a core range of six beers and Chef Lino will be pairing his signature dishes with them. Expect to taste saffron arancini rice balls with the cereal-forward and fruity Ambrata (amber ale), salt baked Mediterranean sea bass with a smooth and lightly spicy Blanche (wheat beer), and Collesi Rossa (a nutty red ale) with dessert – a chocolate and caramel mousse with vanilla oil and smoked sea salt.

A Pocket-Friendly Dim Sum Lunch at Min Jiang

From now till 28 January 2018, indulge in Min Jiang’s Weekday Dim Sum Set Lunch, available Mondays to Fridays, at just $26++ for two. The Sichuan and Cantonese restaurant in Orchard is putting up a menu of all-time favourites, including shrimp dumplings, steamed BBQ pork buns, steamed spare ribs with black bean sauce, pan-fried carrot cake, and mango sago with pomelo. If that doesn’t fill you up, opt for an additional hot & sour or double-boiled soup for $8++ or noodles at $10++.

Ribeye Steak Rice Bowl

A delivery-only centralised kitchen, Deliveroo Editions was first introduced in April last year for F&B owners to put life in new concepts without having to set up a physical space. This month, they’ve added three new restaurants. Local zi char New Ubin Seafood has launched Truly Singaporean bowls – the Ribeye Steak Rice Bowl is served with their signature Heart Attack Fried Rice – while Greek restaurant Blu Kouzina jumps on the burger wagon with The Burger Break. Mexican food lovers can look forward to tacos, quesadillas, and burritos at Los Jesfes, opened by a Mexican couple who also own a Mexican grocery store on Sunset Way.

Happy Hour Starts at Sumo Bar Happy

If you haven’t tried sake bar and ramen restaurant Sumo Bar Happy, dip your toes with their daily happy hour from 4pm to 7pm. Expect a curated list of cocktail specials going at $10 and a selection of Sumo sushi – such as housemade luncheon meat onigiri using Nagano pork – at $5. They’ve also started doing lunch sets starting from $15 that starts with a heirloom tomato salad, your choice of main, and to finish off, a slice of castella cake.
