5 Things To Do in Singapore This Week: 19th April to 25th April 2021

This week’s art offerings range from the ancient to the avant-garde. A French festival is popping up on Dempsey Hill too, and a familiar flagship sneaker store adds an interesting splash of art that you should check out at Jewel.

Experience the Duality of Past & Present with Life in Edo X Russel Wong in Kyoto

Courtesy of Kennie Ting, Asian Civilisations Museum

This exhibition juxtaposes the lifestyles in 17th to 19th century Edo (today’s Tokyo) with landscapes of modern-day Kyoto, in two apt mediums: woodblock print and photography. Singaporean photographer Russel Wong also captures the fading geisha tradition in Kyoto in moving photographs. A truly contemplative documentation of Japan, then and now.

Life in Edo | Russel Wong in Kyoto is happening from 16 Apr-19 Sep 2021 at the Asian Civilisations Museum, 1 Empress Pl, Singapore 179555, open 10am-7pm daily and till 9pm on Fri.
