If there’s anything that’s bound to brighten up your day, it’s dessert. Inspired by traditional Japanese flavours, Hvala serves up treats that balance bitter and sweet, ranging from Matcha Azuki Cake (S$7.80) to Hojicha Petit Gateau (S$8.80). Hardcore matcha lovers, there’s not one, but three varieties of Matcha Gelato (S$17.80 – S$24.80), each one more intense in flavour. And if you want to try making your own sweet treats, they have cookie kits in two flavours, with all the materials needed to whip up a batch of delicious treats at home.

Lokkee

At Tung Lok Group’s American-Chinese restaurant Lokkee, expect fusion dishes like Firecracker Chicken Nest (S$29.95), deep fried diced chicken served with dried chilli and mango puree. If you’re looking to impress the dinner table, order The Mermaid (S$85.60), a healthy and collagen rich dish with grilled barramundi. The Wagyu Truffle Hor Fun (S$72.80 for 4 pax), an elevated version of the common zi char dish, will probably work too

Caruso

Tucked away along Bukit Timah Road, Caruso is an authentic Italian restaurant bringing the best of Italy to you. Known for handmade pasta and their lamb dishes, you’ll find the best of both worlds with Pappardelle Con Ragu’ D’Agnello (S$28.35), pappardelle pasta with eight-hour braised lamb. If you can’t say no to freshly grilled octopus, their Polipo Alla Griglia (S$41.75) is served with roast potatoes and rocket. Finish off the meal with a classic Cannoli Siciliani (S$13.90), filled with sweet ricotta cheese and chocolate.
