The Weekly Grub: 5 Things To Eat And Drink In Singapore This Week

We’ve got Chinese New Year feasting on the cards this weekend, but there’s lots more to chow down on besides. Spice Brasserie and Tanjong Beach Club have both revamped their offerings, promising a mix of wholesome and indulgent grub. The booze situation is looking bright too, with tempting Lunar New Year tipples from IB HQ, a Mount Gay rare expression in town, and a new beer ‘n’ brunch affair by Heart of Darkness.

Mount Gay Releases Rare Rum Bottling

Rum aficionados, there’s a rare new Mount Gay bottling to grace your collection. The second release in Mount Gay’s Master Blender Collection, the Mount Gay Pot Still Rum is crafted solely from pot still-distilled rums − a rich homage to how this spirit was originally made for centuries. Six months of maturation in ex-whisky casks yields a toasty, spicy number, rich with butterscotch and delightful hints of oak. With only 60 bottles available in Singapore, this is one sipping experience not to miss.

The limited-edition Mount Gay Pot Still Rum is currently retailing online at AsherBWS and La Maison Du Whisky. It is also served exclusively at the following bars and restaurants: Cuba Libre, Lime House, Origin Bar, 15 Stamford by Alvin Leung, Ah Sam Cold Drinks Stall, and Neon Pigeon.

IB HQ Brews Up Chinese New Year Tipples

Toast to the Year of the Rat with IB HQ‘s Chinese New Year cocktail menu, presented auspiciously in two parts. The first part pays tribute to staple ingredients from various regions of China, from an East China tipple inspired by Fujian’s famed Lapsang Souchong tea to a West China cocktail laced with house-made osmanthus liqueur. The second part of the menu, ‘Mahjong‘, is a cheeky cross between dicing and drinking − roll the dice and pick your tiles to determine which concoction you’ll be having. Cocktails are priced at S$22++, while mocktails are priced at S$12++.
