The Weekly Grub: 5 Things To Eat and Drink in Singapore This Week

How was your weekend? Sometimes things get rough… flu season gets its grimy paws on you, that meeting you were supposed to ace falls flat, and you run into your ex at Starbucks. But we can’t blame Mercury’s Retrograde for everything; sometimes all we need is to find a little pick-me-up. Have a little respite over afternoon tea at Conrad Centennial, a good sweat session with mind-numbing Sichuan at The Line, or champagne and fries with your gal pals at Chimi’s, it’s all in the stars for this week.

Sizzling Sichuan Cuisine at The Line

Shangri-La’s sumptuous international buffet at The Line welcomes Guest Chef Rick Du from Shangri-La Shenyang, who’ll be putting his own spin on Sichuan specialities at dinner. Expect fiery menu items like Sichuan Mala Chicken and Kung Pao Shrimp for $80++ a person from 11 to 23 March 2019. And on Friday nights, you’ll also be treated to Chinese mask-changing master performances at 7.30pm for a truly immersive experience.

The Line is located at Tower Wing, Lower Lobby, 22 Orange Grove Road, Singapore 258350, p.+65 6213 4398. Dinner service is open from 6pm — 10pm from Monday to Sunday.

Chimi’s Champagne & Fries

For the entire month of March, 20-foot container Mexicana cantina Chimi’s at Marina Bay is serving us some serious Women’s Day goodness. Buying a bottle of their Moët & Chandon at $98 gets you an unlimited supply of truffle fries to go with. If it sounds unusual to you, think of it as the Carrie Bradshaw of beer and chips. Not enough? Throw in freshly-shucked $2 Canadian oysters and you’ve got a legitimate party in your mouth.

Chimi’s is located at One Marina Boulevard, #01-01 NTUC Centre, Singapore 018989, p.+65 8609 2623. Opens 12pm — 12am from Monday to Sunday.

Sons Of Tippling Vol. 1 (2019)

Above the much-raved Tippling Club (check out the review here), in its newly-renovated space, Bali-based Italian Chef Daniele Taddeo is extending his reach across the globe to bring culinary collaborations from monthly guest chefs and Tippling’s very own Head Chef Ayo Adeyemi, in this year’s Sons of Tippling 2019 series. The event draws inspiration from Once Upon A Time, another long-running success, and hosts a tiny crowd of 14 diners per seating, so make reservations while you still can! This week’s dinner includes an eight-course menu complemented with wine for $250++ per person.
